Waterproofing How-To Guides › Damp & Condensation › Mould
Follow this simple process for prep, application and aftercare to help remove mould and reduce regrowth — ideal for bathrooms, kitchens, ceilings and cold external walls.
- Surface prep (avoid spreading spores)
- Correct application & dwell time
- Aftercare to reduce regrowth
Tip: lasting results come from treating the mould and improving ventilation / reducing condensation.
Overview
Mould on walls and ceilings is common in areas with high humidity, poor airflow or cold surfaces where condensation forms. Removing mould properly is straightforward — but it needs the right preparation and aftercare to stop it returning.
Use the steps below as a quick checklist while watching the video above.
What you’ll need
- Protective gloves and a suitable mask
- Clean cloths / sponges
- Brush, roller or sprayer (depending on product format)
- Good ventilation (open windows / use extractor)
Where this works best
- Bathrooms and kitchens
- Ceilings affected by condensation
- Cold external walls / corners
- Utility rooms and poorly ventilated areas
Step-by-step: how to use the kit
Clear the area, protect nearby furnishings and increase ventilation. Remove loose surface contamination with a cloth or soft brush. Avoid aggressive dry scraping that can spread spores.
Apply the treatment evenly over the affected area, including a margin beyond the visible mould. Follow the kit instructions for dwell time and whether a second application is recommended.
Allow the surface to dry fully. Reduce condensation by improving airflow (extractor fans, trickle vents, regular ventilation) and keeping indoor temperature steady where possible.
