Description
CEMPROTEC ELASTIC Elastomeric Cementitious Flexible Coating
CEMPROTEC ELASTIC is a two-component, polymer-rich elastomeric cementitious waterproofing coating that cures to form a durable, permanently flexible coating. It is designed to bridge minor cracks and protect concrete and other mineral substrates against water penetration and carbon dioxide diffusion. It can also be used as a crack-isolation membrane on concrete floors and screeds.
The flexible coating can be applied by brush, trowel or spray and normally in two coats. It maintains its elastomeric properties under immersion, helping accommodate movement in cracks, while providing resistance to abrasion, freeze/thaw cycles and de-icing salts. CEMPROTEC ELASTIC also has excellent adhesion to sound prepared concrete, masonry and steel and can be applied to green concrete.

Applications
CEMPROTEC ELASTIC is suitable for a range of flexible waterproofing and concrete protection applications, including:
- Concrete waterproofing
- Concrete crack protection
- Crack-isolation membranes
- Floors and screeds
- Roofs and decks
- Podium decks
- Green roofs
- Concrete and masonry protection
- Protection against carbon dioxide diffusion
- Areas exposed to freeze/thaw conditions
- Areas exposed to de-icing salts
- Applications where minor substrate movement is expected
For general cracking or where additional tensile strength is required, CEMPROTEC GEO80 can be embedded into the first coat. For expansion joints and other critical movement areas, CEMPROTEC 2000-S reinforcement is specified with the system.
Application & Coverage
CEMPROTEC ELASTIC is supplied as a two-pack system containing Part A liquid and Part B powder. The components must not be split. All of Part A should be mixed with all of Part B using a slow-speed drill and suitable paddle for a minimum of five minutes until completely homogeneous and free from lumps.
For vertical and overhead applications, apply 2 × 1mm coats. The second coat should be applied when the first coat is stable but not fully set, typically after approximately 4–6 hours depending on temperature.
For roofs and decks, the product is applied as a single 2mm layer, using a notched trowel, squeegee or skid leveller, followed immediately by a spiked roller to remove entrapped air.
Coverage: 9.4m² per 30kg pack at 2mm thickness.
Yield: 18.8 litres per 30kg pack.

Important Application Information
CEMPROTEC ELASTIC does not generally require a primer. However, roofs and decks must be sealed with CEMPROTEC EF PRIMER, while highly porous substrates may also benefit from CEMPROTEC EF PRIMER.
The substrate must be sound, clean and free from laitance, dust, oil, grease, corrosion products and organic growth. Smooth surfaces should be roughened, and the concrete should have a minimum compressive strength of 20 MPa. The substrate should be thoroughly saturated with clean water without standing water before application.
The product should only be applied where there is no water pressure from behind the coating. After application, appropriate curing is important, particularly in hot, sunny or windy conditions. A minimum 7-day cure is required before immersion.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is CEMPROTEC ELASTIC used for?
CEMPROTEC ELASTIC is a flexible cementitious waterproofing coating used to protect concrete and mineral substrates against water penetration and carbon dioxide diffusion. It can also be used as a crack-isolation membrane on floors and screeds.
How much does a 30kg pack cover?
A 30kg pack covers approximately 9.4m² at a finished thickness of 2mm and provides a yield of approximately 18.8 litres.
Can CEMPROTEC ELASTIC bridge cracks?
Yes. The product has a declared Class A5 static crack-bridging performance of >2500µm and Class B4.1 dynamic crack bridging of 0.2–0.5mm. CEMPROTEC GEO80 can be incorporated over areas exhibiting general cracking or where additional movement is expected.
Does CEMPROTEC ELASTIC require a primer?
It generally does not require a primer. However, roofs and decks must be sealed with CEMPROTEC EF PRIMER, and highly porous substrates may also benefit from additional sealing with the primer.
Can CEMPROTEC ELASTIC be immersed in water?
Yes. The coating maintains its elastomeric properties under immersion. However, the manufacturer states that it should be allowed to cure for a minimum of 7 days before immersion.
