RIW Sheetseal 226 – Self-Adhesive Waterproofing Membrane

RIW Sheetseal 226 is a cold-applied, self-adhesive waterproofing membrane comprising a high-density polyethylene film coated with a bitumen/rubber adhesive layer and protected by removable reinforced silicone paper. It provides a reliable barrier against liquid water and water vapour, with factory-controlled thickness and no drying time after installation.

Designed for Type A barrier protection, RIW Sheetseal 226 is suitable for basements, sub-structures, ground floors, retaining walls and reservoirs. It can be applied to concrete, masonry, steel and suitable insulation board/ICF systems, with the membrane available in full-width and narrower rolls for detailing around corners and projections.

Application & Installation

Substrates should be smooth, clean, dry, sound and free from frost, oil, grease, condensation and other contamination. Voids and hollows should be made good, while sharp edges and high points should be removed. Internal corners should be eased with a suitable cement fillet and external corners chamfered or rounded where required.

RIW Sheetseal Primer should be applied to vertical or inclined surfaces to aid adhesion. The primer has a coverage of approximately 7m² per litre and should dry for approximately 2–4 hours before the membrane is applied. Sheetseal Primer should not be used on insulation boards or ICF systems.

The Sheetseal 226 separating paper is progressively removed as the membrane is pressed firmly onto the prepared substrate. The membrane should be smoothed from the centre towards the edges to remove air pockets and then firmly rolled. Damaged areas should be patched with sufficient overlap.

The membrane should be protected from UV exposure within 28 days of application and is not designed to remain permanently exposed. Suitable protection can include screed, paving slabs, insulation, Protection Board or Double Drain, depending on the application.
