Description
Sylmasta Rapid 5 Minute Epoxy Adhesive is a fast curing, epoxy used to glue metal, ceramic, brick, concrete, wood and most hard plastics.
It is used to repair metal castings, ceramic ornaments, furniture, stone slabs and coping. It also fixes fittings to brick, wood or plaster and can be used for test rig manufacture and model making.
The 5 minute cure speed of Sylmasta Rapid Epoxy Adhesive means that there is minimal holding or clamping time, but still enough time to put an assembly together without rushing.
Rapid 5 Minute is available in a 25ml syringe or 50ml cartridge. The two components of Rapid 5 Minute are pre-measured in the syringe for consistency and easy mixing. The cartridge is applied using an applicator gun, available to purchase separately.
How to glue components using Sylmasta Rapid 5 Minute Epoxy Adhesive
Surfaces to be bonded must be clean, dry and free from all traces of dust, grease, oil and other materials. To improve bond strength, both surfaces can be lightly abraded prior to the application of Rapid 5 Minute.
To use the epoxy adhesive, snap off the nozzle tip on the syringe and remove the cap from between the piston rods. Extrude the required amount of epoxy and then mix the two components together using a stirrer for about 30 seconds until an even mix is achieved.
The mixed epoxy is applied to one surface, after which the two surfaces requiring bonding are pressed or clamped together. Sylmasta Rapid sets in 3 to 5 minutes at 20°C. It should be left undisturbed for a handling time of 30 minutes. A full cure is achieved within 24 hours.
Once Rapid 5 Minute Epoxy has been applied, the cap should be placed on part-used cartridges for re-use of the epoxy at a later date. Under the correct conditions, Rapid 5 Minute has a shelf life of two years from the date of manufacture.
