Visqueen HP Tanking Primer 5L
Visqueen HP Tanking Primer 5L is a black elastomeric bituminous priming solution designed to prepare substrates before the application of Visqueen waterproofing and tanking membranes. It improves the bond between the substrate and applied membrane and is suitable for use on concrete, metal and masonry.
The primer is supplied ready to use with no mixing required and can be applied by brush or roller. It is specifically designed for use with Visqueen Self Adhesive Membrane, Visqueen Gas Resistant Self Adhesive Membrane and Visqueen TorchOn Tanking Membrane.
One coat is normally applied at a coverage rate of 6–8m² per litre, depending on substrate porosity. A 5 litre tin provides approximately 30–40m² coverage. Drying time is typically 2–8 hours, depending on temperature, and the membrane should be applied within 24 hours of priming.

Surface Preparation
Before application, inspect concrete surfaces for honeycombed areas and holes. Where necessary, irregularities should be bag-rubbed or filled using a suitable filler such as a 3:1 mortar mix.
Surfaces must be frost-free, dry, smooth and clean, and free from oils, grease, condensation and other contamination. Areas of laitance should be removed.
Concrete substrates must have been cured for a minimum of 7 days before primer application.
Application
Visqueen HP Tanking Primer can be applied directly from the tin using a brush, or transferred into a suitable container before application by roller.
Do not pour the primer directly onto the surface.
Apply one coat at approximately 6–8m² per litre, depending on substrate porosity. The primer normally dries within 2–8 hours, depending on temperature.
The applied membrane should cover the primer within 24 hours.
The recommended installation temperature is above 5°C.
Storage & Handling
Store Visqueen HP Tanking Primer upright, undercover and in its original packaging, away from sources of ignition, at temperatures between 5°C and 30°C.
Store and transport securely in an upright position to avoid spillage. The unopened product has a minimum shelf life of 24 months.
Use in a well-ventilated space away from sources of ignition and keep the container closed when not in use.
