Felt Adhesive is a solvent-based, cold-applied bituminous adhesive formulated to provide a secure and durable bond for successive layers of roofing felt. Designed for convenience and safety, it ensures strong adhesion to various substrates, making it ideal for roof construction and repairs.

Application Guidelines:

Surface Preparation:

1. Ensure surfaces are free from oil, dust, dirt, and loose debris.
2. Remove all traces of algae and fungi with a stiff brush and treat with fungicide to prevent regrowth.
3. For porous concrete surfaces, prime first with Bituminous Primer and allow to dry completely.

Application Process:

1. Apply Felt Adhesive evenly to the surface.
2. Allow 15-30 minutes drying time (varies based on conditions) until tacky.
3. Lay roofing felt carefully into the adhesive, pressing down firmly to ensure full contact and remove trapped air.
4. Use a light roller (15-25kg) where possible to ensure a firm bond.
5. Overlap Guidelines:
   • Side overlaps: Minimum 75mm
   • End overlaps: Minimum 150mm
   • Apply additional adhesive to the underside of overlaps for a watertight seal.
6. For Timber Structures: The first layer of felt must be nailed down (as per BS 8217:1994), with successive layers bonded using Felt Adhesive.
7. After 24 hours, check all bonds, particularly at laps, and re-roll or press down any areas lacking adhesion.

Coverage & Storage:

• Coverage: Approx. 2m² per litre.
• Colour: Black.
• Container Sizes: 5L.
• Storage: Keep in a warm room overnight before use in cold weather to prevent thickening.

Cleaning & Safety Precautions:

• Cleaning Tools: Use white spirit to clean brushes and tools before the adhesive sets.
• Spill Management:
  • Minor spills: Wipe off before setting.
  • Major spills: Absorb immediately with sand and dispose of in accordance with regulations.
